When the alloy wheels are getting powder coated, the proper preparation process is very important . After the coating, it is crucial that the hub of the wheel is cleaned properly from the inside.
The inside of the hub of the wheel has to be pre-sized to 0.01mm and cannot be covered with the powder. As little as half the millimeter of the powder or paint inside the hub will result in the powder coated rims or painted rims vibrating and the steering wheel shaking. Of course, everything will be out of balance. This half the millimeter powder or paint spill may lead to the tire's loss of balance of up to 7-10 millimeters. Quite often we have customers complaining about vibrating wheels and not realizing that the reason for that is as simple as the hub not being properly cleaned. Unfortunately we do notice that not all powder coating shops clean their coated alloy wheels hubs after the procedure. Take a look at the pictures to see the difference between the hub which has been cleaned and the one which has not.
