FAQ

The price starts at $300 and goes up depending on the size of the rims, width of the rims, quantity of spokes, the color you choose, the thickness of existing paint on them and some other factors. Please check Powder Coating Estimate for details.

We offer several different options: regular or quick powder coating of the whole rim or of the face (spoke part) of the rim with or without warranty. Please check Powder Coating Estimate for details.

We have around 50 stock colors available, you can see them at www.spectrumpowder.com . We do not mix and match custom colors, we only apply the powder. If you need custom color please contact this company directly. We only do single color rims. Double or triple colors are only available for two- or three-piece wheels.

The timing depends on the season and powder coating option you choose, and may vary from 24 hour to 3 weeks. Most of the rims are ready in 3-5 business days.

If your rims have TPMS (tire pressure sensors) we have to remove them in order to get the rims powder coated. If the rims are more than 2 years old and have aluminum valve stems with sensors, they might become rusted and corroded. It may not be possible to remove the sensors without breaking them. In this case the sensor has to be changed. Alternatively, you can remove the sensors yourself prior to bringing the rims to us. If the sensors have rubber valve stems, it is much easier to remove them, but we highly recommend that you change the rubber valve stems after the rims are done. In our shop it costs $20 for a set of 4 sensor valves to be changed on the loose rims.

This depends on the type of center caps and some other factors. For instance, we do not restore chrome center caps. Some caps do not need to be refinished at all. Some customers prefer to buy new center caps or just new stickers for the center caps (we sell caps and stickers for certain models). It will cost you $75 to have a set of 4 center caps refinished in our shop. We might use powder coating or regular paint depending on the material of the caps.

Yes, we do. The rims will be sandblasted if you choose powder coating option with sandblasting. You also can have your rims sandblasted elsewhere and bring them to our shop for powder coating. The rims have to be sandblasted with sand that is 50-80 grits, otherwise the surface will be too rough and will require polishing which costs $20-$100 per rim. Or we can apply the powder AS IS but the powder coated rim will also have a rough surface. If you have already sandblasted rims, the price for powder coating starts at $300 per set. The rims will be ready in 24 business hours. We also provide sandblasting service only (without painting or powder coating), starting from $60 for a set of 4 rims.

If the rims have rivets (rivets look like decorative bolts usually on the edge of the after-market rim, metal or plastic), it will be an extra $100 because of the work involved. We will remove the rivets and reinstall them when the rims are done. Depending on the quality and age of the rims, rivets might break down during removal, then you have to buy new rivets to replace the old ones (we do not sell them). OR, you also can do the removal and reinstallation of the rivets by yourself. The plastic rivets must be removed prior to powder coating and there is a possibility of damage during removal. Optionally, the metal rivets can be powder coated together with the rims (so they will be the same color as the rims) without removal - we will not charge you extra for that.

Yes, we provide limited 1 year warranty on the coating. You can find more information here.

Powder coating provides more resistance to both mechanical impact such as scratching or chipping and chemical impact such as salt on the road. Coated wheels keep their brightness longer.

Powder coating done correctly, using low temperature for curing, will not impact the structure of good quality OEM or after-market rims. Cheap low quality after-market rims may not be accepted for powder coating at all.

Our regular powder coating service, that comes with warranty, includes sandblasting of the rims from all sides; removing all scratches, dings, curb rash, rust etc; minor welding if required; washing; chemical treatment; powder coating and clear coating (if required). We also offer bend and crack repair for an additional fee.

Yes, we also powder coat motorcycle rims. Average cost is $120 - $150 per rims. The rim has to be provided to us without tire, bearings, disc brakes and other parts.

Our shop is specializes in powder coating of wheels only so we do not accept any other parts.

Yes, you can bring your wheels with tires, there is an additional cost of $100 to $300 for demounting the tires, then mounting them back and balancing, depending on the size of the tires, profile of the tires and if they are regular or run flat, reinforced or similar tires. You also can bring the car, there is an additional cost of $250 for taking the wheels off the car, putting them back on the car, keeping your car on the lift and prioritizing your wheels before other customers. The car is usually ready in 48 hours.

The estimate starts at $300, and goes up depending on what you have and what option and color you choose. For $300 your wheels have to be off the car with no tires on them and it only covers front face of the rim with no sandblasting (also comes with no warranty).
